The project objectives
The overall objective of the Project is “to work for the emergence of an autonomous and exemplary local church that promotes development, justice and good governance both within the church and in the society”.

Major sub-objectives:
1. Dignified living conditions for now marginalized women;
2. An autonomous and exemplary Church;
3. Reduce corruption and promote good governance in all EELC structures and in the Cameroonian society

The following specific objectives are formulated:

1. Dignified living conditions for now marginalized women;
1.1 Inform marginalized women of their social rights and significantly reduce degrading social practices against women in the Church and in society;
1.2 To improve by trainings and sharing’s the skills/abilities of EELC women in leadership, and fight against poverty in the Church and Society;
1.3 Make women leaders the actors of the implementation of the gender policy of the ELCC, so that it could be applied by all at all levels;
1.4 To substantially reduce the phenomenon of domestic violence and the consumption of alcohol in Christian families by raising awareness, training and spreading messages against these problems;
1.5 Facilitate the setting up of family counselling centers in charge of the fight against Domestic Violence in congregations, districts and regions of the Church.

2. An autonomous and exemplary Church;
2.1 Continue to train on Management and modern Leadership at the Lutheran Institute of Theology (ILTM) and expand training to the 05 bible schools;
2.2 Continue the process of improving general management at all levels within the Church by applying (and further develop) the tools and policies that have been developed;
2.3 Introduce the « Use Your Talents » approach to help leaders and Christians to identify, develop and use their talents to develop themselves, the local congregation and the community.

3. Reduce corruption and promote good governance in all EELC structures and in the Cameroonian society
3.1 To sensitize and train the leaders and Christians of all the EELC Congregations and to make them actors in the fight against corruption; promote good governance and transparency at all levels in the Church and society;
3.2 To develop at least 4 techniques (or strategies) of struggle, and to popularize them among the Christians of the EELC (Call number, aid cell, denunciation, etc.) based on the results of the investigation in the EELC on the practice of corruption;
3.3 Develop and implement, with the help of all Church actors, NGOs and CONAC, a national anti-corruption policy in the EELC;
3.4 Establish a platform (a national network) with all national actors/partners* to permanently eliminate corrupt practices.
* Protestant churches and the anti-corruption commission, NGOs, traditional and political authorities.

After the Project in 2021, we expect that:

 Women have increased access to health care, education and land ownership,
 Self-help groups are developed among the marginalized women of the Church;
 Women know their rights to equal access to health care, education and available resources;
 Degrading social practices have been significantly reduced (or eliminated) in the communities;
 Equal participation in decisions in the Church has become a routine established and known by all;
 Domestic violence is considerably diminished and Christian couples are examples of harmony in the society;
 The consumption of alcohol is significantly reduced especially within the church;
 That family counselling centers or pastors trained are operational in most the congregations of the EELC;
 The EELC will continue to facilitate access to decent living conditions for marginalized women;

 That the Theological Lutheran Institute of Meiganga (ILTM) and the Bible schools have established departments in charge of the training of management students;
 That pastors and managers use the tools in the Church management routines documents;
 That congregations have created and run development committees in charge of the implementation of the UYT approach;
 In every congregation, talents are known, and used for the development of the community;
 The empowerment of the Church is effective because of the increase in the level of funding for the activities of the Church national by the own funds coming from the congregations, from 20% to at least 60%;
 That all pastors will receive at least 80% salary each month; Today they receive on average between 50 and 60 % on yearly basis;

 The level of corruption linked to public services and in the church, has decreased;
 The Church is seen as an actor in the fight against corruption, and Christians are active promoters in the fight;
 The financial management system is working in a transparent way and incomes and expenses are justified and communicated at least monthly to the members of the church;
 The EELC participates in networks that promote good governance;
 That an anti-corruption policy is developed and popularized by all means** of communication inside the EELC.
